The Local and European Elections will take place next year and political parties are currently holding their selection conventions. This event will give the general public, women running in an election for the first time and those who will consider supporting candidates an opportunity to hear from politicians who will share their tips and tales from their own experiences of politics and campaigning.
The 5050 Group is a voluntary organisation which has been campaigning for gender quota legislation. Whilst this has now been achieved, implementation is key and ongoing pressure is vital to ensure political parties step up to the mark and encourage more women to run and succeed as candidates.
There is no admission fee. Everyone very welcome!

The main tip for the campaign trail is to be a member of one of the existing parties. This so-called equality legislation is primarily aimed to further cement the ability of the existing parties to exclude any challengers, including female independents.
But shhh…nothing will distract the parties from their plans. Including the truth about this piece of legislation.
