‘In May 2014 the local and European elections take place in Ireland. The leaflet made by The Integration Centre below gives a summary of how, where and why people should register to vote in the 2014 local election. There are still many people who are not registered to vote and decision affecting those people made without them. Registering for election is the first step to change that. The Local and European Elections will take place next year and political parties are currently holding their selection conventions.  This event will give the general public, women running in an election for the first time and those who will consider supporting candidates an opportunity to hear from politicians who will share their tips and tales from their own experiences of politics and campaigning. 
 
The 5050 Group is a voluntary organisation which has been campaigning for gender quota legislation. Whilst this has now been achieved, implementation is key and ongoing pressure is vital to ensure political parties step up to the mark and encourage more women to run and succeed as candidates.
 
There is no admission fee.   Everyone very welcome!
