Michael McDowell against women

Today’s Sunday Independent has an article by Michael McDowell headed “Dail gender law unconstitutional”.

McDowell was leader of the Progressive Democrats. He was also Minister for Justice (2002-7) & Attorney General.  He’s now a “senior counsel”.

His view is important.  It will be necessary to examine his view in detail in future blogposts.

It is a bit suspicious that such a high-powered lawyer doesn’t quote the Irish Constitution in his article.  He makes no reference to any particular clause or sub-section to support his case.

I wonder why?
