Green Party TD Mary White is now in favour of legislating in order to bring about gender parity in Irish politics according to an article in the Irish Times today. This follows her initial rejection of such temporary measures when they were debated at a conference in UCC last autumn. This clearly indicates that there is a general misunderstanding surrounding the meaning and purposes of these temporary measurements and that when politicians spend time reflecting the issue they will eventually realise how important it is to implement changes as soon as possible.
